The Town of Hempstead hosted a parade on January 11, near Hofstra University. Under the theme “Moving Forward: The Dream Realized”, the community gathered to celebrate Dr. King’s vision and reimagine his dream for the future. The parade featured groups such as the Lady Tigers Majorettes, The Academy Marching Panthers, the Aviation High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and the Hofstra University Wrestling team.
4. Reflection and Dialogue
Taking time to reflect on King's teachings is another important way to celebrate the day. Families and friends can gather to discuss the meaning of King's work and how it relates to current social issues.
