Are you looking for fun and thrills? How does traveling back in time to the Jurassic Period, swimming with nature's most fascinating predators or log rolling in the great outdoors sound to you? Experience all these adventures and more at Long Island's Great Escape, Empire State Fair. Named a 2018 Best of Groupon attraction, the Fair will take place at NYCB LIVE's Nassau Coliseum on select dates from May 3-19, 2019. Spread over 25 acres, this amusement lover's paradise will enthrall all fun seekers while not breaking anybody's budget.
Empire State Fair will be open on Thursdays from 6pm-11pm, Fridays from 6pm-12am, Saturdays from 2pm-12am and Sundays from 2pm-11pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Ticketmaster Box Office at NYCB LIVE. Gate admission tickets are $12 for all ages and include plenty of free entertainment. Parking costs $5 per car. Plus everyone can tailor-make their experience by taking advantage of the Fair's ticketing options. For those who are all about the rides, Unlimited Ride passes can be purchased for $25 on weekdays (Thursdays and Fridays) and $30 on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Please note these don't include live animal rides. Additionally, for those who don't believe patience is a virtue (and there's one of them in most families), Fast Passes are available for $15 each that give access to VIP lines on select popular rides. Plus there will be special Bargain Nights:
- Dollar Day (Friday, May 3, 6pm-midnight): All rides and games are $2 per person (per ride and per game). Select food or drink items are also $2
- Cheap, Cheap Night (Thursday, May 9, 6pm-11pm): Ride all rides wristbands cost $22 for all ages
- Kids Go Free Night (Thursday, May 16, 6pm-11pm): Gate admission is free for ages 12 and younger
Are you feeling the need...the need to feed on tasty food and adrenaline-filled rides?! Strap yourselves in and if you have a pair of stretchy pants at home, it's time to get them on. The fairgrounds will feature over 100 rides and attractions for all ages including a massive Kiddie Land and loads of exhilarating thrill rides for all the big kids and grownups! For a more serene flying experience, fair goers can enjoy the centerpiece of the Empire State Fair, the Giant Wheel, that will give everybody a spectacular view of the fairgrounds.
Back to the gastronomical thrills, you better bring your appetite. After all, you don't want to miss out on the most delicious food in the area do you? At the Empire State Fair everyone can find tasty treats and refreshing beverages served by some of the country's finest vendors ranging from corn dogs, bacon-inspired dishes and cotton candy to donut burgers, fresh-squeezed lemonade and deep fried anything! But for anyone who's keeping in shape or eating healthily, you can be rest assured there are loads of healthy foods too including Greek salads, shish kebobs and more.
The Empire State Fair has an all-new slate of free entertainment. Leading off this year's lineup is the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show. We know what you're thinking and don't worry... plaid shirts and beards are optional! Lumberjacks have a proud history of using their renowned strength and skills to do the dangerous work of chopping and preparing trees for domestic use. Celebrating their legacy and abilities used today, this captivating exhibition features world-class lumberjacks as they perform amazing feats including log rolling underhand chopping, springboard chopping, axe throwing, crosscut sawing and more. Full of laughs and excitement, the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show has performed over 33 years all over the world including Japan, Bermuda, Europe, Australia and Africa.
Are you looking to keep the excitement going but need to cool down? Get ready to plunge into the Live Shark Experience. By using an underwater mask that enables a diver to communicate to others outside the water, they will give a play-by-play of what's happening in the aquarium. This is a unique opportunity to understand what it feels like to dive and interact with sharks which are among nature's most fascinating and yet feared animals in the animal kingdom.
Keeping up the outdoor spirit, fairgoers will revel in awe and amazement at the Wolves of the World. Renowned for being the great ancestors of dogs, wolves are also known for their own unique characteristics. In this captivating demonstration, fairgoers will see natural behaviors of wolves including their alertness, pack structure, ability to climb, jump and so much more.
Now wait a second, didn't we say something about time traveling...? You bet Jurassic we did! Jurassic Kingdom. is a one-of-a-kind edutainment exhibition that not only enables audiences opportunity to see dinosaurs in action, it gives them the opportunity to touch and interact with them throughout the show. Fairgoers will journey back in time when the most fascinating and fearsome dinosaurs roamed the earth. Upon arriving at the Jurassic Period, audiences will learn about various fossils that introduce the show's dinosaurs. Then everybody will see the dinosaurs of Jurassic Kingdom including Terry- the talking, comical pterodactyl, Jack- the two-month-old brontosaurus, Sarah- a newborn triceratops, Lucy- a five-year-old velociraptor and Sparky- a two-year-old tyrannosaurus rex.
Upon returning to present day, fair goers who are still hungry for adrenaline filled experiences can go to Robert Castillo's BMX Freestyle Team. With over 30 years of experience, World Class BMX Superstars and a fresh approach, the BMX Freestyle Team put on a mind-blowing, gravity-defying stunt experience that audiences will never forget.
Rounding out the Empire State Fair's lineup of free shows is the Educational Petting Zoo. Adults and children alike can get up and close with a myriad of animals of the world while seizing the opportunity to take hilarious selfies. Everyone can also saddle up for enthralling animal rides. Please note that these rides cost $5 and are not part of the Ride All Rides Wristband.
